The castle features a remaining tower reaching 8 meters in height with 2.5-meter-thick walls and an 11.8-meter width foundation.
Originally constructed between the 8th and 9th centuries by Arab builders, the castle was later conquered by Alfonso VI in 1074 and incorporated into the Crown of Castile.
The fortress stands as an example of medieval Christian military architecture, incorporating both Islamic and Christian construction techniques in its remaining structures.
The castle maintains free public access throughout the year, although visitors should note its progressive state of deterioration and exercise caution during exploration.
Below the main tower lies a rectangular water cistern with barrel vaulting, displaying characteristics typical of Islamic architectural designs from the medieval period.
