The Castle of Soto stands with cylindrical towers and strong walls, displaying late Gothic architecture typical of medieval fortifications in Asturias.

Dating from the 12th century, the castle underwent reconstruction in the 14th century to meet the defensive and residential needs of local nobility.

The Garcia de Soto family, who resided in this castle, played a central role in shaping the regional history of medieval Asturias.

The castle underwent substantial restoration works between April and August 2022 to stabilize and preserve its remaining structures.

Urraca of Asturias, the illegitimate daughter of King Alfonso VII who later married the King of Pamplona, spent time within these castle walls.
