Cabeza Líjar

Cabeza Líjar is a mountain summit in the Sierra de Guadarrama that stands at the border between Segovia Province and the Community of Madrid. The peak sits within a broader ridge system where multiple mountain chains converge and shape the surrounding landscape.

The summit served as a strategic observation point during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s, when its elevated position held military importance. Remains from that period, including military structures, are still visible on the peak today.

The mountain paths accommodate both local hikers and international trekkers following the long-distance GR-10 route from Valencia to Lisbon through Spain.

The summit is reached via marked trails starting from Alto del León, where parking and a restaurant are available for visitors. Hikers should be prepared for variable mountain weather and bring appropriate gear for changing conditions.

The peak offers sweeping views across multiple neighboring mountain ranges, including Cerro de Salamanca and the Siete Picos. This vantage point reveals the complex topography of central Spain's mountain region up close.
