Hermitage of Santa Llúcia, Valencia, Religious hermitage in Ciutat Vella district, Valencia, Spain.
The Hermitage of Santa Llúcia is a small chapel in the Old Town with a rectangular nave and five side chapels on each side. A low barrel vault with windowed lunettes covers the interior space and provides soft light throughout the main chamber.
The building began as a medieval chapel with rib vaults still visible in the main chapel today. It was later reconstructed in the Baroque style and underwent major renovations in 1865 and 1925.
The Brotherhood of Saint Lucia established its seat here in the late 15th century and continues to shape the spiritual life of the community. Visitors can see how the building remains an active center for worship and local devotion to the saint.
The chapel sits between Hospital Street and Guillem de Castro Street in the city center and is easy to reach on foot. An upper floor museum displays religious objects and historical items that help visitors understand the building's past.
The bell tower facade was added in 1865 by master builders Luis Peseto and José Mustieles, replacing the original simple front. This redesign introduced a niche figure of the saint and gave the building a more decorated appearance.
