Church of Santa María, Miranda de Ebro

The Church of Santa María features three naves supported by sixteen columns and displays an architectural design from the Renaissance period.

Construction of the current church building took place between 1523 and 1571, replacing a former Romanesque church from the 12th century.

The main altarpiece, created in 1728, contains the statue of Virgin of Altamira and represents the Churrigueresque Baroque style of Spanish religious art.

The church stands at coordinates 42°40'59.88"N 2°57'10.01"W and functions as part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Burgos.

The choir area preserves a mummification of the Chantre of Calahorra since 1812, alongside processional carvings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
