Cruz de Motrico rises 851 meters above sea level as part of the Obarenes mountain range, with a vertical ascent of 257 meters from its base.
FEFASA workers installed a 10-meter tall metal cross at the summit on April 14, 1955, which remains maintained by the Montañés Club of Miranda.
The annual nighttime climb to Cruz de Motrico draws participants from across the region, fostering a strong mountaineering tradition among local communities.
Two primary routes lead to the summit: a northern path from San Juan del Monte and a southern route from Villalba de Rioja, both accessible via forest trails.
A mailbox installed at the cross allows hikers to leave messages, creating a connection point for mountaineers who reach the summit.
