Hospital Real, Gothic hospital building in Granada, Spain
The Royal Hospital features four symmetrical courtyards at its corners, with the Marble Courtyard displaying twenty arches and royal coats of arms.
The Catholic Monarchs established the Royal Hospital in 1526 to provide medical care for war casualties and sick people after the Granada War.
The building incorporates Gothic, Renaissance, and Mudejar architectural elements, reflecting the diverse influences present in Granada during the 16th century.
Located at Avenida del Hospicio 1, the building now serves as the headquarters of the University of Granada and houses its central library.
The hospital's library, dating back to 1526, contains numerous incunabula and important bibliographic works from the early days of printing.
