Hospital-Asilo de San Juan de Dios, Art Nouveau hospital in Poblats Marítims Valencia, Spain.
The Hospital-Asilo de San Juan de Dios features a symmetrical layout with a central high body and two perpendicular lateral wings made of exposed brick.
Francisco Mora Berenguer designed this medical facility in 1907 to serve the Order of Saint John of God in caring for children with rickets and scrofula.
The hospital building incorporates Mudejar architectural elements in its upper central section, reflecting regional influences in its decorative patterns.
Located near the Mediterranean Sea, the building includes open galleries and terraces that maximize natural sunlight and coastal breezes for patient recovery.
The facility transformed from a religious-run children's hospital to a modern medical center, and later served as a refuge for displaced persons.
