Malvarrosa Beach, Valencia, Urban beach in Valencia, Spain.
Malvarrosa Beach is an urban beach in Valencia stretching roughly 1300 meters along the coast with about 140 meters of fine golden sand. The shoreline connects directly to the promenade where visitors find shops, cafes, and various facilities.
During the 1850s this area transformed from marshland into a flourishing hollyhock flower plantation, giving the beach its name. Later development turned it into a modern bathing destination as the coast was opened for leisure use.
The painter Joaquín Sorolla depicted this beach in many works, capturing its light and daily scenes in paintings that gained worldwide recognition. His art helped establish the place as an important chapter in Spanish painting.
Access is fully developed with ramps from the promenade to the water and rental stations for chairs and umbrellas. Many sports facilities and changing rooms are available, and the area is well signposted.
A designated water channel section is reserved for surfing, windsurfing, and canoeing while keeping other areas safe for swimmers. Below the surface, the Malvarrosa Reef offers underwater formations that divers can explore.
