Church of Santa María de la Peña, Brihuega

The church features three naves divided into three sections, with a polygonal apse and rectangular presbytery supported by stepped buttresses at each vertex.

Archbishop Rodrigo Jimenez de Rada ordered the construction of this church at the beginning of the 13th century as one of five Christian temples in Brihuega.

The structure represents the transition from Romanesque to Gothic architecture, incorporating pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and elongated windows with diamond-tipped guards.

The church opens for worship services on weekdays at 20:00 and Sundays at 12:30, with free admission for all visitors.

The entrance portal displays four pointed archivolts and a lowered tympanum with two symmetrical pointed arches containing three oculi, including a circular quatrefoil rosette.
