Iglesia de la Concepción

Iglesia de la Concepción is a Roman Catholic church in central Agaete featuring three naves, a central dome, and a symmetrical facade adorned with decorative pilasters. The structure is distinguished by its bell tower with four openings, prominently positioned at Constitution Square.

A temple was founded on this site between 1514 and 1515, though the current structure dates from 1875 when architect Francisco de la Torre Sarmiento led its reconstruction. This 19th-century rebuilding established the form that stands today.

The church holds a collection of religious artworks that reflect the devotion of the local community, including pieces donated by prominent families over generations. These works shape how people experience the interior and connect visitors to the faith that has anchored this place for centuries.
