Puente de Castilla-La Mancha, Cable-stayed bridge in Talavera de la Reina, Spain.
The Puente de Castilla-La Mancha is a cable-stayed bridge crossing the Tagus River in Talavera de la Reina with a central pylon reaching 192 meters high, supported by 152 steel cables. The structure spans 318 meters total length and connects different parts of the city while accommodating vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Construction of this modern link began in 2007 under the Castilla-La Mancha regional government and reached structural completion in October 2011. The project was developed to address growing transportation needs and improve connectivity across the city.
The bridge functions as a gathering point for local residents who organize community events and seasonal celebrations throughout the year.
The bridge is wide enough to handle simultaneous vehicle traffic and provides separate safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists. Visitors can best appreciate the full structure and its pylon from the riverbanks, where the entire construction comes into view.
This engineering achievement required 72,000 cubic meters of concrete, 10,000 tons of steel, and 33 kilometers of cables for its construction.
