Puente del Grajal, Colmenar Viejo

The Puente del Grajal crosses the upper section of the Manzanares River with a single semicircular arch spanning 10 meters in length.

Built during the Islamic period, the bridge formed part of a military route connecting Talamanca de Jarama to the Tiétar Valley for communication between watchtowers.

The bridge's width measures exactly 3.34 meters, corresponding to six rassassíes cubits, a measurement standard commonly used in Islamic architectural designs.

Located next to the M-618 highway linking Colmenar Viejo with Hoyo de Manzanares, the bridge sits within the Parque Regional de la Cuenca Alta del Manzanares.

The bridge underwent modifications in the 18th century while maintaining its original granite construction and stands near the El Navallar hydroelectric station from 1908.
