The monument consists of Isla de Terreros, measuring 11,150 square meters, and Isla Negra, covering 6,015 square meters, both emerging from Mediterranean waters.
In January 2001, the Spanish authorities designated these two islands as a natural monument under IUCN category III to preserve their ecological value.
The islands play a central role in local maritime traditions, with fishermen from San Juan de Terreros maintaining centuries-old fishing practices in surrounding waters.
Visitors can observe both islands from the shore of San Juan de Terreros, accessing the viewing point via the A7 motorway and A350 road.
The waters around the islands contain extensive meadows of Posidonia oceanica seagrass, supporting a diverse ecosystem of marine species and Mediterranean birds.
