Palacio de Ayerbe

Palacio de Ayerbe is a Renaissance manor house located in the center of the village and defined by two large corner towers. The facade displays finely worked stone blocks arranged symmetrically, with a monumental entrance gate featuring vaulted passageways.

The building was constructed in the 16th century as a residence for the Urries family, who controlled significant territories as Barons of Ayerbe. During the War of Independence, French troops fortified it and caused severe damage before restoration efforts began later.

The name comes from its role as a noble residence, and the architecture still shows the power held by the Urries family in the region. The precisely cut stone blocks and symmetrical design reveal how wealth and taste were displayed in this period.

The building is not open to the public as it now serves as a private music school called Palacio de la Música 'El Pilar'. Visitors can view the exterior architecture and facade from the village square, which provides a good sense of the structure's scale and design.

The interior features impressive Renaissance coffered ceilings that reflect the architectural sophistication of 16th-century Aragonese nobility. These elaborate ceiling elements were an expensive feature of wealthy homes and showcase the craftsmanship of that era.
