Poblado ibérico amurallado del Tos Pelat

The Tos Pelat is an ancient Iberian fortified settlement situated on a hilltop in the Valencia region. The site covers two hectares and features defensive walls and towers built to protect the inhabitants from attacks.

This settlement emerged between the 6th and 4th century BCE and served as a key point in regional trade networks. The location allowed residents to control important routes moving through the area.

Residents decorated their walls in blue, white, and red, showing how skillfully they adorned their homes with patterns and designs. These painted surfaces reveal that the community valued artistic expression in everyday life.

The site is open to visitors and offers guided tours led by knowledgeable guides who explain the layout and structures. Visiting the interpretive center provides helpful context before walking through the ruins.

Archaeologists discovered two lead sheets bearing rare ancient writing in the Iberian language and script. These metal tablets are valuable finds because they offer direct evidence of how people communicated in writing at that time.
