Playa de La Concha

Playa de La Concha is an urban beach with olive-toned sand situated along the Mar Menor lagoon in Los Alcázares. The shoreline runs for several hundred meters and provides shallow, calm waters with a gentle sloping bottom.

The beach takes its name from its shell-like curve and sits near former Islamic palaces that gave Los Alcázares its medieval name. The Mar Menor location has long been a center for fishing and maritime exchange.

Fishermen bring their daily catch straight to beachfront restaurants, keeping alive the traditional link between sea and local food. This practice lets visitors taste fresh seafood and experience how the coast has shaped eating habits here.

The beach provides showers, toilets, sun loungers, lifeguard services, and designated swimming areas for families. The shallow waters and solid facilities make it suitable for children and less confident swimmers.

The Mar Menor lagoon water stays several degrees warmer than the Mediterranean year-round, creating noticeably more pleasant swimming temperatures. This happens because the shallow lagoon heats up quickly under the sun.
