Parador de Cardona, Medieval castle hotel in Cardona, Spain
The stone fortress stands on a hilltop, featuring thick walls, Gothic arches, and a cylindrical tower overlooking the Cardona valley and mountains.
Built in 886 by Count Wilfredo the Hairy, this castle served as a strategic defense point and residence for the powerful Dukes of Cardona.
The castle includes the Sala Dorada and Sala dels Entresols, which display medieval architectural elements and decorative features from different periods.
The hotel provides guided tours through its medieval halls, underground passages, and the 11th-century Minyona Tower measuring 15 meters in height.
Room 712 remains closed to regular bookings due to reported supernatural occurrences linked to an ancient tale of a Muslim prince.
