Playa de Pormenande

Pormenande Beach is a protected coastal cove in El Franco featuring a mix of cobblestones and gravel, bordered by natural cliffs and vegetation. The shoreline extends across a modest length and offers views of the rocky coastline.

The beach gained protected status in the 1990s due to its ecological importance. Since then it has been managed as a Special Protection Area to safeguard its natural features.

The beach serves as a gathering place where the local community maintains its relationship with the sea and fishing traditions. You can observe how people from nearby villages use the water in their daily routines.

The cove has basic facilities including showers and restrooms, plus a small parking area for visitors. Lifeguard services may be present during summer, especially on weekends.

At low tide, a natural sand formation creates a temporary passage to a small islet, offering visitors a rare opportunity to explore it on foot. This tidal feature demonstrates the coastal forces at work in this area.
