Playa de Zahara de los Atunes, Atlantic beach in Zahara de los Atunes, Spain

This beach on the Cádiz coast stretches for several kilometers with fine sand and is bordered by coastal dunes and native vegetation. The width and orientation of the shoreline create different areas with varying conditions depending on the time of day and season.

The settlement began as a fishing village in medieval times and later developed into a center for tuna fishing using traditional methods. A wreck from the 19th century lies partially in the water, revealing the area's long maritime past.

The name comes from the tuna that fishermen have caught here for centuries, shaping the rhythm of local life. You can see this heritage in the boats along the shore and in restaurants that serve fresh fish daily.

The beach has lifeguards, showers, and toilets, with restaurants and cafés located right along the shore. Keep the tides in mind, as they significantly affect the beach's width and usability throughout the day.

At low tide, remnants of an old steamship become visible, having sunk here in the 19th century and now standing as a quiet monument to the past. This occasional appearance makes it a special discovery for observant visitors.
