Barranco del Río Dulce Natural Park, Protected natural park in Sigüenza province, Castile-La Mancha, Spain.
Barranco del Río Dulce Natural Park is a protected natural area in Sigüenza province, Castile-La Mancha, spanning thousands of hectares. The Dulce River has carved a limestone canyon with sheer vertical cliffs and diverse geological formations that dominate the landscape.
The park was established in 2003 to protect this unique landscape and its geological formations. The territory still shows evidence of centuries-old sheep farming practices through stone corrals and pasture lands that locals once worked.
Romanesque churches from the 12th century, such as San Juan Bautista Church in Jodra del Pinar, show the architectural heritage within the park. These buildings shape the landscape and tell the story of people who have lived in this region for centuries.
Two visitor centers located in Mandayona and Pelegrina offer information and guidance throughout the park. Special facilities and equipment are available on weekends between Easter and November to help visitors with mobility needs.
A special walking trail with tactile elements allows blind visitors to explore the riverside area and experience the landscape through touch and sound. This accessible route demonstrates the park's commitment to welcoming all visitors regardless of their abilities.
