Raixa, Manor estate in Bunyola, Spain

Raixa is a manor estate in Bunyola with a stone mansion, central courtyard, and gardens arranged in tiers down the southern slopes of Sa Muntanyeta mountain. The buildings and grounds blend residential spaces with working agricultural areas across multiple garden levels, from the Orange Tree Garden to the Gallery Garden with fountains and the Entrance Garden featuring a decorative pool.

The site began as an Islamic farmstead and was transformed into a neoclassical villa in the early 1800s under Cardinal Antoni Despuig i Dameto. The cardinal's collecting activities from Italy during this period significantly shaped the estate's character and design.

The estate served as a major agricultural center for centuries, and the Orange Tree Garden and terraced layouts reflect farming methods that shaped local life for generations. Walking through the gardens, you can see how the land was organized to support both food production and the owner's leisure.

You can explore the grounds on foot as pathways connect the different garden levels and make all areas accessible to visitors. Some paths are steep or uneven, so wear comfortable shoes and watch for irregular surfaces as you move between levels.

A monumental water tank built in 1753 sits within the estate and once supplied water throughout the entire property for irrigation. This engineering structure reveals how the owners carefully managed water to keep the sprawling gardens and farmlands functioning.
