Zaidín, Administrative district in southern Granada, Spain
Zaidín is a residential district in southern Granada located between the Genil and Monachil rivers, with housing areas, research centers, and sports facilities throughout. The neighborhood contains multiple parks and green spaces distributed across its streets for everyday recreation.
The first residential buildings appeared in 1953 around 3 kilometers from Granada's center to house workers and families during the city's expansion. The district developed over decades into an established neighborhood with its own services and infrastructure.
The Zaidin Rock Festival occurs annually at summer's end, bringing thousands of attendees to outdoor concerts across the neighborhood's squares and streets.
Several bus routes connect the district to Granada's center and make it easy to get around the area on foot or by transit. Visitors will find accommodation and dining options scattered throughout the residential streets and local shops.
The district houses the Astrophysics Institute of Andalusia and an Experimental Station that conduct scientific research. These research facilities bring academic activity to what is otherwise a residential neighborhood.
