Plà i Llevant, Wine region in eastern Mallorca, Spain
The Plà i Llevant denomination encompasses 439 hectares of vineyards across the eastern plains of Mallorca, with limestone-rich soils supporting diverse grape varieties.
Ancient Romans established viticulture in this region in 121 BC, when Quintus Caecilius Metellus introduced grape cultivation following his conquest of Mallorca.
Local winemakers maintain traditional methods while cultivating both indigenous varieties like Callet and Manto Negro alongside international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon.
Visitors can explore thirteen wineries throughout the region, with most offering guided tours and tastings from Monday through Saturday by advance reservation.
The maritime Mediterranean climate creates wines with distinct characteristics, as vineyards receive 425 millimeters of annual rainfall concentrated during autumn months.
