Palacio de la Merced

Palacio de la Merced is a baroque convent located in Córdoba featuring a rectangular courtyard with round arches supported by Tuscan columns. An impressive staircase connects the building's two floors.

The palace stands on ancient Roman foundations with archaeological excavations revealing remains of a Visigothic baptistery and crypt from the time of King Reccared I. These discoveries show how the site has been sacred ground across multiple cultures.

The building houses artistic collections from different periods, including a 16th-century Flemish guild cup and prints that show local landmarks. These works tell the story of how artists have seen Córdoba across generations.

A solar clock tower was added during a 1960 renovation by architect Rafael de La-Hoz, blending modern design with the historical structure. This addition shows how the building has continued to evolve across different eras.
