The Archive of the Kingdom of Galicia preserves documents from the 9th century onwards in a building next to the San Carlos Garden.
King Charles III established the archive through a Royal Charter on October 22, 1775, initially planning its location in the city of Betanzos.
The archive maintains extensive collections of photographs, maps, and historical postcards that document the evolution of Galician society through centuries.
Visitors can access the archive from Monday to Friday, with winter hours extending from 8:30 to 20:30 and summer hours from 8:30 to 19:30.
The facility houses diplomatic documents on parchment dating back to the 9th century, representing some of the oldest written records in Galicia.
