Arco de Santa María, Medieval gate in Burgos, Spain.
The Renaissance-style arch features stone towers, turrets, and detailed sculptures depicting important figures from Burgos and Castile on its front facade.
Charles V ordered the reconstruction of this gate in the 16th century after Burgos leaders supported him during the Revolt of the Comuneros.
The structure houses temporary art exhibitions and contains the Hall of Purity, where the Burgos City Council gathered for meetings since the 18th century.
Visitors can explore the arch Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:50 PM, with Sunday hours from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The second floor maintains an exhibition of antique pharmaceutical equipment from the former Hospital de San Juan, preserving medical artifacts from past centuries.
