Arco de Santa María

The Arco de Santa María is a medieval gate later rebuilt in Renaissance style, located at the main entrance to Burgos. The stone structure features intricately carved figures and small towers on its front, displaying important personalities and heraldic symbols.

The original gate was completely rebuilt in the 16th century under Charles V, following the city's support for the king during the Revolt of the Comuneros. This transformation turned it into a monument celebrating royal favor and political loyalty.
