Construction of Santa María la Mayor began in 1265 under Gothic architectural principles and continued until its consecration by Bishop Gaspar Punter in 1593.
The parish museum contains numerous artworks dating from the 15th to 19th centuries, including a 12th-century codex and religious artifacts.

The choir area, built between 1406 and 1426, stands in an unusual location with a spiral staircase decorated with relief sculptures of Jesus' birth.
