Parroquia de San Francisco de Asís

The church features three naves built in traditional Canarian style, with a Baroque stone facade and intricate Mudéjar-style wooden ceiling patterns.

The original monastery church from 1518 was destroyed during Dutch attacks, leading to reconstruction efforts by architects Juan Lucero in 1635 and Juan Báez in 1652.

The interior displays numerous religious artworks, including the venerated image of Our Lady of Solitude and a 17th-century sculpture of Saint Francis by José de Arce.

The church maintains regular mass schedules and welcomes visitors to explore its architectural elements, religious artifacts, and artistic treasures throughout the week.

The monastery gardens once served as experimental grounds for cultivating vegetable varieties that were later introduced to the Americas during colonial times.
