Casa dels Dofins

Excavations from 1981 to 1994 uncovered this dwelling from the late 1st century BC, situated in the upper zone of ancient Baetulo. The discovery belongs to a prosperous residential layer that documents the urban development of this Roman city.

Dolphin motifs appear in the impluvium mosaic, which is where this Roman house gets its name from. The decoration reveals the tastes and means of families who lived here in comfort.
