Ermita de Bruguers, Religious hermitage in Gavà, Spain.
Ermita de Bruguers is a chapel with a single nave covered by a barrel vault and topped with a pitched roof. The building is constructed from local reddish sandstone and contains four side chapels along its interior walls.
The chapel was founded in the 13th century as a sanctuary dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene and served the surrounding population. It underwent major reconstruction in 1500, which gave it much of its present form.
The hermitage holds religious meaning for the local community, centered on a Virgin statue that was placed here in the 14th century. The figure draws people who come to seek spiritual connection in this quiet sanctuary.
The hermitage is located along the BV-2041 road between Gavà and Begues at kilometer 4.6 and can be reached on foot from either town. Contact the Gavà Museum for visiting details and information about accessibility to the site.
The building blends Romanesque and Gothic styles, with its rounded apse showing early influences while the facade, choir, and pulpit display later Gothic features. This combination makes it an example of how medieval architecture evolved over time.
