Zumaia Lighthouse, Maritime lighthouse in Zumaia, Spain
The white cylindrical tower rises 12 meters high on Mount San Telmo, offering guidance to vessels entering the Urola River estuary.
The lighthouse commenced operations in 1882 under engineer Francisco Lafarga's design, replacing an earlier 1870 structure that was difficult to access.
The lighthouse stands as a symbol of Basque maritime heritage, marking the industrial development of Zumaia's port during the nineteenth century.
The beacon reaches 14 nautical miles into the Atlantic Ocean, featuring a distinctive pattern of three flashes followed by one occlusion every twenty seconds.
Located 41 meters above sea level, the structure incorporates a rotating screen system installed in 1925 by Maquinista Valenciana manufacturing company.
