The name Villapene originates from "villa penii," referring to a Latin settler named Penius who established himself in this territory during ancient times. This etymological origin reflects the Roman roots of the settlement.

The parish honors the Virgin Mary with its main celebration around August 15, and residents also gather to commemorate Saint Lucy on December 13. These festivals shape the religious calendar and bring the community together throughout the year.

The area sits roughly three kilometers from a reservoir and houses a water bottling facility that serves local operations. Agriculture remains the primary economic activity, so the area feels most active during growing seasons and fair weather periods.
