The market building features a rectangular layout with fifty food stalls offering fresh products from local vendors and regional producers.
Originally established in 1876, the Mercado de Chamberí underwent substantial renovations and reopened its doors to the public in 1943.
During the Carmen festivities, the market transforms into a center for food tastings where visitors sample traditional products from the region.
The market operates Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with Saturday hours from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
The first floor contains a fitness center with a swimming pool, while the ground level maintains its traditional market character.
