Ermita del Santo Cristo

Ermita del Santo Cristo is a hermitage church in Talaván with a single nave divided into two sections and a hexagonal main chapel at the end. The chapel's roof features a brick vault topped with a pyramid structure.

The building functioned as the municipal cemetery during the 19th century until its closure in 1928. Following that date, the structure gradually deteriorated and was eventually abandoned.

The interior walls of the main chapel display sgraffito decorations with winged figures wearing red conical hats and sharp teeth that dominate the space. These wall paintings shape the character of the room and draw every visitor's attention.

Visiting requires caution due to structural instability and advance permission is necessary before entering the site. Plan sufficient time for slow exploration and wear appropriate footwear.

An inscription dated March 15, 1628 accompanies the unusual winged beings depicted on the walls. Additional circles showcase human figures with feline features, revealing a mysterious artistic vision.
