Palacete de Eduardo Adcoch, Neoclassical mansion in Almagro, Madrid, Spain.
The Palacete de Eduardo Adcoch is a mansion located on Paseo de la Castellana with a grey stone facade that blends French and Spanish design elements from the 20th century. The building spans three floors plus a basement and contains multiple formal rooms and private chambers.
The mansion was built between 1905 and 1906 under architect Jose Lopez Sallaberry, who designed it in a neo-renaissance style. Major renovations took place in 1999 when architect Rafael de La-Hoz Castanys restored and adapted the structure for its new purpose.
The mansion reflects how Madrid's wealthy families mixed French and Spanish architectural styles in their homes. You can see this blend in the ornate rooms and decorative details throughout the building.
The mansion is located on Paseo de la Castellana in the Almagro neighborhood and now serves as the headquarters of the Rafael del Pino Foundation, which regularly hosts exhibitions and cultural events. Visitors should check in advance for public events since the building is not always open for general visits.
The original owner Elena Perez Sanjurjo was an adventurer who spent many years living in Switzerland and sailed yachts in her youth. After her death, she left the mansion to her longtime household employee Isabel, an unusual decision for that era.
