Ca l'Alemany

Ca l'Alemany is a traditional farmhouse near Montigalà whose remains include a preserved courtyard and stone arches. The ruins sit in open countryside between Badalona and Sant Jeroni de la Murtra monastery.

Archaeological work at the site revealed a Roman villa existed here before the farmhouse was built. The findings show the area was occupied across multiple centuries of settlement.

The farmhouse shows traditional Catalan building methods typical of rural settlements in this region. The way space was organized here reveals how families balanced farming with daily household tasks.

The site is reachable via multiple walking routes through rolling countryside with varying difficulty levels. Sturdy footwear is recommended since terrain is uneven and paths cross open ground with natural obstacles.

While the visible ruins are modest in size, the Roman layers uncovered underground show this location was an important settlement long before medieval times. This creates an interesting sense of deep time when visiting the site.
