Sant Llorenç del Mont, Romanesque monastery in Albanyà, Spain
The ruins of Sant Llorenç del Mont stand on the southern slope of a mountain overlooking the town of Beuda in the Garrotxa region.
The monastery's first mention appears in a charter from Charles the Bald in 871, confirming it as a property of the Sant Aniol d'Aguja monastery.
The monastery complex includes a basilica with three naves and semicircular apses, representing the architectural style of medieval religious buildings in Catalonia.
Following the annexation of Bassegoda to Albanyà in 1968, the monastery became part of the Albanyà municipality while maintaining its geographical position in Garrotxa.
Between 1311 and 1318, Abbot Bernat constructed the sanctuary of the Virgin Mary at the mountain summit, which later became a center of religious devotion.
