Puente de los Poetas, Modern bridge across Douro River in Zamora, Spain.
The Puente de los Poetas extends 424.5 meters over the Douro River, featuring six spans and a width of 14.7 meters for vehicles and pedestrians.
The construction of this bridge, completed in March 2013, allowed the conversion of the old Stone Bridge into a pedestrian-only passage.
The bridge received its name to honor regional poets instead of solely commemorating the local poet Claudio Rodriguez, following discussions with his widow.
The structure connects the neighborhoods of Olivares and Campo de la Verdad with San Frontis, serving as the main entry point to southwest Zamora.
Structural engineer Javier Manterola designed this 16-million-euro infrastructure using prestressed concrete and contemporary engineering methods.
