Castle of Segura de León

The stone fortress stands on a sloping hill, featuring multiple prismatic and cylindrical towers that reinforce its irregular perimeter walls.

Built in the 13th century as a headquarters for the Order of Santiago, the castle served as a major administrative center until 1833.

The castle includes a double Mudéjar archway in its courtyard, constructed by master builder Hernando Contreras who also created the Tower of Homage.

The castle entrance contains steep stairs leading to observation points, allowing visitors to explore the fortification walls and towers.

The fortress retains its original defensive elements, including a drawbridge location and strategic arrow loops integrated into the stone walls.
