Santa Margarida, Urban beach in Roses, Spain

Santa Margarida is an urban beach in Roses, stretching 560 metres from the Salatar residential development to the mouth of the Santa Margarida residential marina. It is 65 metres wide, with fine golden sand and clear, shallow water. A tree-lined promenade runs along the beach, and at its western end a square with benches and vegetation looks out toward the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà natural park.

The beach developed in the 1960s alongside residential areas and canal construction in Roses during the coastal tourism expansion. This transformation reshaped the landscape and created a new form of settlement in the region.

The beach serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors mix, experiencing the Mediterranean way of life through waterfront dining and social spaces. The promenade shows how people spend their leisure time here and make the shoreline part of their daily routines.

The beach has showers, wheelchair ramps, lifeguards, and equipment rental available for visitors. Parking areas nearby make it easy to reach the shoreline.

The beach lies at the western edge of Roses, where it ends at the mouth of the Santa Margarida residential marina. Since 2003 it has held the European EMAS environmental certificate and the international ISO 14001, and the Catalan Water Agency tests the water weekly during the bathing season, rating it excellent.
