Placeres Beach

Placeres Beach is a sandy shore with white sand located near Lourizán along the Ria de Pontevedra estuary. The waterfront offers views of Tambo Island and the beach sits at the junction of natural shoreline and developed facilities.

A grand bathhouse hotel opened in 1902 at a nearby headland and served the wealthy as luxury accommodation. The building was later converted into a school and reflects how the area's purpose changed over time.

The beach served as a popular summer destination for visitors seeking leisure by the water in the late 1800s. Local residents and travelers valued this spot for its accessible location and scenic setting along the estuary.

The shore has shower facilities and a refreshment stand for visitors. It is easy to reach by a four-lane road that runs directly to the waterfront.

For many years the shore was classified as port territory and had restricted public access. Only recently was it fully opened to regular visitors as a public beach.
