Torre Urquinaona is a rationalist office skyscraper at the corner of Plaça d'Urquinaona and Carrer de Roger de Llúria, near Plaça de Catalunya. It rises 70 metres over 22 floors on an octagonal plan that resolves its chamfered corner site in the Pla Cerdà grid. Dark sandstone clads the exterior, and asymmetric prisms and a sculptural top break its verticality.
Construction of the building began in 1968 under architects Antoni Bonet i Castellana and Bernat Miró Llort and was completed in 1971. This project was part of the rationalist architectural movement that transformed Barcelona's urban landscape during that period.
The building displays the rationalist design principles that shaped Barcelona in the 1970s. Its clean geometry and functional facade make it a notable example of this architectural movement in the city.
The building is centrally located near Plaza Catalunya and is easily accessible by public transportation. Most areas are offices and commercial facilities, so public access to interior spaces is limited.
