Cine Metropol, Art Deco movie theater in Valencia, Spain
The Metropol cinema features geometric decorations, a glass viewpoint on the second floor, and architectural elements combining Art Deco with rationalist styles.
Architect Francisco Javier Goerlich transformed a residential building from 1882 into the Metropol cinema, which opened its doors in October 1934.
During the Spanish Second Republic, the cinema became a meeting point for intellectuals including Miguel Hernández, Ernest Hemingway, and Orson Welles.
The theater originally accommodated 1200 viewers, with 800 seats in the orchestra section and 400 in the balcony area.
The interior contains Art Deco coffered ceilings and decorative elements that remain uncatalogued by institutional organizations to this day.
