Museo Andrés García Ibáñez de Arte Moderno y Contemporáneo

The Museo Andrés García Ibáñez occupies the Torre de la Vela and displays modern and contemporary artworks across several exhibition areas. The collection brings together paintings, sculptures, and photographs spanning different artistic periods and styles.

The museum was established in 2012 following an agreement to present contemporary art in an accessible public setting. The Torre de la Vela building itself carries much older history within its walls.

The collection includes 500 modern art pieces, 300 contemporary works, and sculptures by artists like Juan López, Emilio Manescau, and Mustafa Arruf.

The museum sits within a historic building in the old town and is easily reached on foot. You should allow enough time to explore the different exhibition areas at a comfortable pace.

The building contains stoneworker marks from the sixteenth century and remnants of old dungeons within its structure. These archaeological traces remain visible and reveal the site's military past.
