Castilla-La Mancha Paleontological Museum

Castilla-La Mancha Paleontological Museum, Fossil museum in Cuenca, Spain.

The Castilla-La Mancha Paleontological Museum is a natural history museum in Cuenca displaying original fossils and dinosaur skeletons across multiple exhibition halls. Most specimens come from local excavation sites and reveal life during the Cretaceous period.

The museum preserves finds from two major excavation sites in the region containing fossils from about 125 million years ago. These discoveries have shaped our understanding of Cretaceous ecosystems.

The museum displays fossils from the region and shows how life forms changed over millions of years. Visitors learn how the natural landscape of the area developed.

The museum is centrally located in the city and is easily accessible by public transportation. Plan to spend about two to three hours to get a good overview of the collections.

One of the most striking displays features a complete skeleton of a carnivorous dinosaur with visible remains of its last meal preserved in the stomach area. This rare feature offers insights into the eating habits of this ancient creature.
