Casa-Museu Benlliure, Art museum in Carmen district, Valencia, Spain
Casa-Museu Benlliure is a three-story residential house in Valencia's Carmen district that was converted into an art museum. The building contains rooms with 19th-century furnishings, a Mediterranean garden, and a painting pavilion situated at the rear of the property.
The original family assembled their art collection in this house and Maria Benlliure donated the building to Valencia's city council in 1957. A decade later it opened as a museum, preserving the artistic legacy of this family.
The house displays works by the Benlliure family and other Spanish artists from the 19th century, reflecting the artistic life of that period. The rooms also preserve musical instruments and furnishings that document the family's everyday life.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday in the morning and afternoon with a midday break, and on Sundays only in the morning. It is advisable to check in advance if all collections are fully accessible, as some rooms may close temporarily.
The painting pavilion from the early 1900s was once the artist's studio and now displays historical ceramics and clothing pieces alongside artworks. This collection offers rare glimpses into the material world of an artistic family from that era.
