Calle Portillo nº 3, 5 y 7, Medieval city gate in historic center, Córdoba, Spain.
The Arco del Portillo features a pointed horseshoe arch constructed with ashlar stone masonry, displaying simple medieval architectural design typical of 14th-century defensive structures in Córdoba.
Built in the late 14th century as part of Córdoba's eastern wall, this gate served as a main access point connecting the Medina with the Axerquía district during medieval times.
Declared a Cultural Heritage Site in 1931, the arch represents the architectural heritage of medieval Córdoba and stands as testimony to the city's Islamic and Christian building traditions.
Located on Calle San Fernando opposite San Francisco Church, the arch remains accessible to visitors exploring the historic center and can be easily included in walking tours of medieval Córdoba.
This structure is the only remaining opening in the eastern section of Córdoba's medieval wall, making it a singular witness to the city's ancient defensive system.
