A female figure holding a laurel wreath stands at the top of the dome, reaching 6 meters in height and weighing 3,000 kilograms.
Federico Coullaut-Valera created this statue in 1977 to replace the original Ganymede and Phoenix sculpture that adorned the building since 1911.
The statue represents Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, continuing the European tradition of using classical mythology in public architecture.
The statue stands at the intersection of Calle de Alcala and Gran Via, accessible from Banco de España or Sevilla metro stations.
The bronze figure required specific engineering solutions to secure its position atop the dome due to its substantial weight and exposed location.
