Sääksjärvi is a 33.18-square-kilometer lake located in Kokemäki, Satakunta, western Finland, situated at an elevation of 49 meters above sea level with rocky shores and reed areas.
The lake sits above an ancient impact crater formed approximately 543 million years ago during the Ediacaran-Cambrian boundary, created by a meteorite collision that left buried geological evidence.
Local legends and stories have developed around the area's prominent boulder formations and natural caves, making it a significant site for regional folklore and traditional outdoor recreation activities.
Visitors can access the site via Sääksjärventie road with parking areas available, and hiking trails lead to viewpoints including the notable Kanninkivi boulder within 200-300 meters from the road.
